Culturally Responsive Pedagogy
As we near a demographic shift in the ethnic and cultural make-up of our country, our classrooms will become more and more diverse. As a result, it will become imperative that educators gain a level of cultural competence to respectfully integrate culturally responsive practices that uplift and protect culturally and linguistically diverse students. This presentation will suggest transforming pedagogical approaches to those that are culturally responsive by looking critically at traditional practices in music education.
