Our Greater Philadelphia region includes Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, west as far as Lancaster, PA and Wilmington DE, north to Bethlehem, east to Princeton NJ, and south to New Jersey cities bordering Philadelphia. Some members travel even further for our events!

In October 2005, GPSA became the 7th official affiliate chapter of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, which greatly broadened its connections throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Greater Philadelphia Suzuki Association is to

  1. Promote the Talent Education method of music education based upon the teaching principles of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki- to develop people with a good heart, through a positive environment for learning.
  2. Act as a resource for parent, teachers, institutions and other individuals seeking information or guidance.
  3. Provide Suzuki students with opportunities for growth through recitals and workshops.
  4. Promote and uphold the principles and ethics of the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
Diversity Initiative

Adopted by the Board of Directors 9-19-2020

GPSA is a stronger organization when our Board, members, and students are representative of our local community.

  1. GPSA will nominate Board members who are representative of our community.
  2. GPSA will increase our membership among more diverse Suzuki teachers.
  3. GPSA will increase diversity among participants in our local Suzuki student events.

The success of these three actions will be re-evaluated at each Board meeting.
