Heather Miller Lardin is an enthusiastic performer, teacher, and scholar of the double bass, both on modern and period instruments. She holds a DMA in Performance Practice from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Double Bass Performance from the Curtis Institute of Music. She serves on the faculty of the Curtis Young Artists Summerfest and regularly presents and works with young bassists at International Society of Bassists (ISB) Conventions. She lives in Havertown, PA with her husband, two children, and two Maine Coon cats who frequently assist in the teaching studio.
Heather particularly enjoys teaching beginning and very young bassists, with a focus on adapting healthy technique to each individual’s physical needs. Currently Heather directs the Early Music Ensemble at Temple University. She taught double bass and viola da gamba at Cornell University for ten years, where she also led Cornell’s Baroque orchestra. Some of this season’s performing engagements include the Handel & Haydn Society, Tempesta di Mare, Brandywine Baroque, the Philadelphia Bach Collegium, and NYS Baroque.
