We are planning our Concert Social for Friday, October 4, 2019 at 7:30 PM with a concert by the Jasper String Quartet (http://www.jasperquartet.com).  Jasper’s first violinist, J Freivogel, enchanted us with his stories about growing up as a Suzuki kid, and now being a Suzuki dad, at the GPSA  Annual Meeting.  It will be very special to now see him and his wife, cellist Rachel Freivogel, performing together, as she, too grew up in the Suzuki method!  This was such wonderful inspiration for the teachers and studio parents who attended- So we have arranged the opportunity for your studio parents and students to come, as well as our members and their families!

The featured Concert pianist who will be joining the Jasper Quartet is Ching-yun Hu, whose name will be familiar to our Suzuki piano circle. She is the director of the Philadelphia Young Pianists’ Academy and Artistic Director of the Philadelphia International Piano Competition.  Several GPSA members had the opportunity to observe Master Classes as Suzuki piano teacher Linda Nakagawa’s student, Parker van Ostrand went on to win this competition.

The venue is Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church (22 East Chestnut Hill Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118).  They are generously donating the net proceeds from ticket sales to two beneficiary organizations, Face to Face Germantown and the Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network.  There is ample parking available on the street, and we are making arrangements for parking in a couple of other lots nearby.

Please purchase your own tickets (and have your studio families purchase tickets) on-line at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/five-fridays-i-the-jasper-quartet-with-ching-yun-hu-piano-tickets-64752878603.  Students are $5 each, Adults $30 each.

When you have purchased your tickets, please call Jane Guerin (215-848-2567) or email Linda Litwin ([email protected]) so we will know how many GPSA folks are attending.  A reception with the artists is planned afterward.  What a wonderful evening for our students…for us all!

We have attached a flyer that you can print out and give to your studio families to invite them.  Please feel free to contact us with questions.
